Zo net even de tassen gepakt. We nemen maar kleine tassen want je moet alles zelf dragen achterop de fiets. En we willen de fietsen, die gaan we kopen, ook terug brengen naar Nieuw Zeeland, dus daar moeten we ook rekening mee houden. De fietsen wegen een kilo of 16-17, en we mogen maar 25kg terug brengen. De bagage tassen zijn zo'n 8 kilo op het moment zo dat zou net lukken. We kunnen altijd wat dingen achter laten, of in de hand bagage stoppen. Morgen ochtend stappen we op het vliegtuig. Ik verheug me daar veel op. :-) We've now finished packing the bags. We're only taking little bags because you have to lug everything around on the back of the bike. We also want to bring the bikes, that we are going to buy in Germany, back to NZ. They weigh about 16-17kg, and the hold luggage limit is 25kg. Currently our luggage bags are about 8kg, so it should just be possible. We could always leave stuff behind, or put more in the hand luggage. Tomorrow morning we get on the plane. Really looking forward to this trip. :-)
Eergisteren de tassen gepakt. We zijn nog niet klaar met pakken, er moeten nog wat dingetjes bij. Ik zal morgen m'n regenjas inpakken, die heb ik er uit gehouden voor het geval dat ik die vandaag nodig had. Ik ben de hele dag op stap geweest, om mensen een potentiaale wind molen boederij te laten zien. Gisteren was het hier in Wellington echt vies weer, veel regen en onweer, and veel wind en wat sneeuw in het gebied waar de wind molens misschien te komen staan. Gelukkig was het vandaag stralent weer, en er was ook niet veel wind. Toch maar tich lagen kleding aan, want het is winter en flink koud op de topjes van de heuvels.
George is vandaag naar Auckland geweest om wat presentaties te geven - dus ook een hele drukke dag. Hij heef voor het eerst in z'n leven de scanner geactiveert op het vliegveld. Kan leuk worden op onze reis! George heeft een kaart van Duitsland, Nederland en Belgie gekocht voor die stukjes waar we nog geen kaart op de GPS hebben staan. Nog maar 4 slaapjes en dan stappen we op het vliegtuig :-)Day before yesterday we started packing our bags. We haven't quite finished yet, still a few more items to go. For instance I couldn't pack my raincoat in case I needed it today for a trip to a potential wind farm site. Yesterday it was hideous weather here in Wellington, lots of heavy rain, cold winds and thunderstorms. Over in the Wairarapa, near where the wind farm might be built, it was very windy with occasional snow. Luckily today was absolutely gorgeous weather, beautiful blue skies and light winds. You still end up wearing lots of layers though, after all it is the middle of the winter and pretty cold on top of those hills.
George is busy too. Another long day to give presentations to a client in Auckland. For the first time in his life the plate in his arm set off the scanner at the airport. This could be heaps of fun on our trip to Europe! George has bought a map that covers Germany, Nederland and Belgium to cover those bits that we don't have maps for on the GPS. Only four more sleeps and we'll hop on the plane :-)
Over een goede week stappen we op het vliegtuig om dan via Sydney en Dubai naar Frankfurt in Duitsland te vliegen. Daar zullen we twee fietsen kopen, en van daar naar Nederland te fietsen. We willen een rondje Nederland fietsen via de afsluitdijk, en onderweg familie en bekenden bezoeken. Als het een beetje lukt zal ik zo nu en dan onze avontuurtjes op deze blog zetten.In just over a week we'll hop on a plane and fly, via Sydney and Dubai, to Frankfurt in Germany. We're planning to buy two bicycles there and cycle to the Netherlands. We want to do a tour of the Netherlands, including the big dike "de afsluitdijk"at the top of the Netherland that has closed off a large chunk of sea. All going well I plan to update this blog occasionally with our adventures.
